The government of Belarus introduced restrictions on the import of car batteries. Now, for their import (for both passenger and commercial vehicles), it is necessary to obtain a special license from the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade and coordinate it with the Ministry of Industry.

This measure is introduced for six months as a temporary regulation. After this period, the decision may be canceled or extended.
Certain types of lead-acid batteries with liquid electrolyte weighing more than 5 kilograms are subject to licensing.
Obtaining a license requires payment of a state fee, so importers' costs will increase. However, the government is confident that this should not lead to price increases for buyers. The goal of the introduced measure is to support Belarusian manufacturers.
However, there are exceptions: a license is not required for goods from EAEU countries if their origin is confirmed, nor for products included in a special registry of industrial goods of this association.
