250 Poodle Crossbreeds ("Doodles") Found in One Apartment in the UK
In the UK, the animal welfare organization RSPCA rescued more than 250 dogs – poodle crossbreeds ("doodles") – which were found inside a single private residential property. The dogs were in terrible conditions: there were too many animals in one house, and they were cramped in a small space, writes BBC.

When rescuers entered the house, they saw dozens of dogs in one room. Many animals had matted, dirty, and crusted fur, indicating long-term neglect. Some dogs required medical attention and grooming. At the same time, as noted by the RSPCA, most dogs were generally not in critical condition and behaved relatively calmly.
The dogs were discovered in January at an undisclosed location in the UK. According to the organization, the situation with them "got out of control" due to exceptionally difficult family circumstances of the owners. It was not immediately cruel treatment in the classic sense, but rather a gradual accumulation of animals that became unmanageable.
After being rescued, all dogs were distributed between two organizations — RSPCA and Dogs Trust. There, they received veterinary care, were gradually introduced to normal life, and socialized. Some of the animals have already been rehomed to new families, where they receive care and attention.

One of the most well-known examples is a dog named Boone. When he was rescued, he was thin, had ear problems, and eye inflammation. He didn't even know what a leash was: when they tried to walk him, he resisted and was scared. The transition to a normal life was very stressful for him, as he had never lived in a regular home environment. But gradually, after care and training, Boone learned to play, walk without fear, and now lives with the family of a former RSPCA inspector.
The organization noted that similar cases, where a very large number of animals accumulate in one house, can be related to various reasons: mental health problems of the owners, financial difficulties, or poor-quality dog breeding. In this particular case, the RSPCA stated that it would not pursue legal action due to the "very vulnerable state" of the people who kept the animals.
Separately, the organization was also forced to refute rumors on social media, where some users claimed that the photo of dogs in an overcrowded room was created by artificial intelligence. The RSPCA confirmed that the image is genuine and reflects the real conditions in which the animals were kept.
Ultimately, the story illustrates two things: on one hand, the serious problem of pet "hoarding" and overcrowded living conditions, and on the other hand, the successful rescue and rehabilitation of hundreds of dogs, many of whom have already found new lives in families.
