Unknown Person Scatters "Gummies" with Fishing Hooks in Barysaŭ — Animals Have Died

Two dogs miraculously survived. Another one did not.

A woman was walking with a stroller. Her two-month-old baby was sleeping. Nearby, a Corgi was walking on a leash. Suddenly, the dog noticed something bright on the ground.

"Some kind of jelly, a gummy," Kristina thought and instinctively put her pet on a short leash. Then she looked closer. Inside the transparent mass was a small, well-hidden fishing hook.

Kristina learned about this danger not by chance. A few days before she herself encountered the poison, she met a young man in the yard. He had two Jack Russell Terriers — a mother and a puppy.

A regular walk. Ordinary sausages, which someone had neatly placed on the lawn. The dogs ate them. The mother died. The puppy miraculously survived — it managed to pull out the hook.

— The guy said that his nine-month-old Jack Russell pulled out a fishing hook. Of course, he suffered, he was taken to the vet, but, fortunately, he survived, — Kristina relays his words. — But his mother could not be saved.

But let's return to Kristina and her Corgi. Before that terrible day when she found hooks in "gummies," the dog had already suffered.

— We returned home after my sister's birthday. We entered the apartment — the smell was simply awful, — Kristina recalls. — It wasn't just the smell of feces. The dog had "messed" everywhere. But the worst part was, it smelled of chemicals.

Kristina checked all the cupboards. Household chemicals were closed, the dog had no access.

— Veterinarians said: severe chemical poisoning. The dog ate something on the street, — the girl explains.

For two or three days the apartment was permeated with this "chemical" smell. For two or three days the Corgi fought for its life: it couldn't drink, eat, or move; it was shaking. It miraculously survived.

Kristina already knew the story about the Jack Russell Terriers. Therefore, when she saw a bright "jelly" on the ground, she became wary.

— I don't know how I noticed it. I'm in shock myself. I was walking, I looked — something bright. I thought: gummies, — she recounts.

I put the dog on a short leash. I came closer. And inside — hooks. Neatly hidden, as if someone had deliberately pressed them into the sweet mass. I collected these "treats" in a bag.

Volunteer Aliaksandra, who reported the story, clarified: "The police have already been called. A case will be opened."

Kristina initially threw the bag with poison into a street bin — she was afraid to take it home, where there was a small child. But then she changed her mind and asked her husband to retrieve it: "Let it stay on the balcony. What if the police need it?"

The Barysaŭ District Department of Internal Affairs confirmed: the statement has been accepted.

— An investigation is being conducted into this incident. Police officers are interviewing potential witnesses and inspecting the surrounding area, — the authorities reported.

The police also urged citizens to be vigilant and to immediately report suspicious items by calling 102.

— "I beg you, please spread this information. Because it's very frightening to see your pet in convulsions with foam. When the whole apartment is soiled. The dog can't drink, eat, or move. It's just dying," — says Aliaksandra.
