One of the drones hit a residential high-rise building in the city center. As a result, apartments on the upper floors were damaged, windows were shattered, part of the facade and debris scattered around the building. According to official data, six people sought medical help for mild carbon monoxide poisoning, and one woman was hospitalized. Residents of the building were evacuated.
Witnesses report a powerful explosion, after which black smoke and flames appeared on the upper floors. Reportedly, there were no warnings of danger.
It is noted that there are no obvious military facilities near the damaged house. However, administrative and security buildings are located nearby, as well as the "Vector" enterprise, which is part of the "Almaz-Antey" defense concern and specializes in military communications. According to some reports, it may have been the possible target of the attack.
Yekaterinburg is more than 2000 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, making this strike one of the furthest. After the incident, residents complained about internet problems and flight delays. The city's airport was temporarily closed.
On the same day, drone attacks were also recorded in Chelyabinsk Oblast, but there were no casualties or destruction there. The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that during the night, air defense systems destroyed more than a hundred drones in various regions of the country.
