Statkevich: Mass official flags only remind of those that were in their place
In his Telegram channel, the politician remarked that "after his release, the huge number of official flags, which literally mark every pole and even the walls of many buildings, caught his attention."

"I understand that this is a prolonged reflection on 2020, when white-red-white flags were also ubiquitous. It seems that the authorities do not understand the difference between the initiative of citizens, realized by their own efforts and at their own expense, and a state event, organized by state officials at state expense," he writes.
The politician notes that people see the difference and perfectly understand the reasons for this "mass marking."
"As a result, its organizers achieved the opposite of the desired outcome — official flags only remind of those that were in their place. Due to the harsh persecution of its bearers, the flag in the colors of the historical 900-year-old coat of arms of our lands has, perhaps for the first time, taken a firm place in the mass consciousness of Belarusians. And nothing will ever erase it from there. And excessive attempts to impose something else will only contribute to this. I have no doubt what the official symbolism of Belarus will become after the very first real elections," he concludes.
