Mass arrests of members of a criminal group suspected of setting Starlink stations on fire in Europe took place in Turkey
In Turkey, 87 people, including 30 minors, have been detained on suspicion of belonging to the organized criminal group "Daltans" (Daltonlar). According to information from the Turkish TV channel CNN Türk, the operation was carried out simultaneously in 30 provinces, including Istanbul.
The investigation suspects members of the group of recruiting hitmen, whose actions were coordinated through closed chats in messengers. The main communication channel was a general chat in WhatsApp called "Dalton Brothers" (Dalton Kardeşler).
Turkish Justice Minister Akın Gürlek announced that a total of 87 people have been detained in connection with the case. The search for 13 more suspects continues.
The leader of the group, Beratcan Gökdemir, was detained in Russia in 2024. According to German security agencies, despite Ankara's demand for his extradition, Moscow allowed him to operate and provided protection — presumably in exchange for certain services. Gökdemir has been declared wanted internationally via an Interpol Red Notice.
The group may be involved in the arson attacks on Starlink ground stations in Europe. Previously, sources of the German publication Spiegel reported that Russian special services might have ordered the arson attack on a station in Poland.
Polish authorities have already arrested two Turkish citizens accused of deliberately setting fire to a Starlink terminal on September 23 in the village of Wola Krogulecka. This facility, among other things, provided communication for Ukrainian troops.
According to several European special services, the detainees might have belonged to the "Daltans" or received orders from members of this group. For many years, it has been engaged in extortion, arms trafficking, and contract killings, including in Germany. According to the Spiegel publication, the order to attack the Polish facility might have come from Russian special services.
