Belarusians must pay taxes on apartments, houses, and cars by November 15. Scammers are taking advantage of this.

Scammers are sending messages about supposedly overdue property tax and directing people to a fake tax website. There, they extract passport details, bank card information, and SMS codes. The scheme was reported on ONT (a Belarusian TV channel).
In the message, scammers demand urgent payment of overdue amounts with penalties, offering a link to do so.
The website actually resembles the portal of the Ministry of Taxes and Duties. It asks for personal data, a passport scan upload, and for payment — to provide the card number, its expiry date, CVV code, and SMS confirmation code.
If a person refuses to pay, they are intimidated with a criminal case and investigation. An "inspection act" is sent to their email or messenger. Such files may also contain dangerous links or malicious software.
