A verdict was handed down in Grodno in a case of tourism package fraud. The victims of the criminal scheme, as reported , were 45 people from different regions of Belarus.
From June 2025 to February 2026, two men aged 37 and 38, acting by prior conspiracy, sold fictitious tours through Instagram, Telegram, and Viber. In correspondence with potential clients, they convinced people to make an advance payment for booking, after which they took the money for themselves. The funds were transferred to controlled accounts, and some were withdrawn from ATMs in Grodno.
45 people aged 22 to 62 suffered from the actions of the fraudsters. The total amount of damage exceeded 150 thousand rubles. The accused spent the obtained money on their own needs.
During the investigation, both men fully admitted their guilt, repented, and voluntarily compensated the victims for the damage, as well as paid the illicitly obtained income.
The court sentenced the 37-year-old defendant to four years of imprisonment to be served in a correctional colony under enhanced regime conditions. The pre-trial detention measure in the form of personal recognizance was changed to detention. The man was detained directly in the courtroom.
His 38-year-old accomplice was sentenced to three years of imprisonment with a deferred execution of the sentence.
One of the men who was sentenced is Ihar Paŭlečka, about whose love scandal we wrote the other day. Judging by his age, it is most likely him who was sentenced to four years in an enhanced-regime colony.
