Vučić honestly conceded defeat in Serbian elections

According to him, the "Student List" is gaining about 135-140 mandates and will win a majority, while Vučić's Serbian Progressive Party will only get 105 seats. Record turnout left no chance for the ruling party.

Record voter turnout in Serbia gave the "Student List" a chance to defeat Vučić.

Aleksandar Vučić and his Serbian Progressive Party maneuvered between the European Union and Russia, trying to please both sides. On the one hand, Vučić actively used pro-Russian and anti-Western rhetoric. On the other hand, Serbia earned considerable money from selling weapons to Ukraine. But for Serbian voters, the main considerations were not geopolitical, but economy and corruption.

Vučić and his inner circle controlled many lucrative sectors of the economy.

The "Student List" was born from a protest movement after the Novi Sad railway station disaster, caused by negligence of contractors linked to the country's leadership. Civil society united in this list, excluding the old party opposition from participation. Society met this with enthusiasm. This explains the high turnout in the elections.

According to Vučić, the "Student List" is gaining about 135-140 mandates and will win a majority, while Vučić's Serbian Progressive Party will only get 105 seats. Record turnout left no chance for the ruling party.

A few more seats are reserved for national minorities. Other parties are not passing into the Skupština (Parliament).

Serbia is a country with a population of 7 million, approximately equal to Belarus in terms of economic development.

The victory of the opposition in the elections will mean a further movement of Serbia towards Europe, distancing itself from Russia. Vučić's defeat can be compared to Orbán's failure in the elections in Hungary. Despite considerable resources spent by Russia, Moscow failed to secure advantageous politicians at the helm.
