Number of victims of the railway disaster in Spain increased to 64 people
The number of victims in the collision of high-speed trains in Spain has reached 64 people, the regional administration of Castilla-La Mancha reported. Another approximately 80 passengers were injured, with about 50 of them in serious condition, writes Bild.

The tragedy occurred on the morning of October 28 near the town of Urda in the province of Toledo, approximately 150 kilometers south of Madrid. On the tracks, an AVE train of the state-owned company Renfe and a private carrier Iryo train collided, both moving towards Andalusia.
According to preliminary information, the Iryo train stopped on the tracks, and the Renfe train following it crashed into it from behind. One of the passengers said that people were literally thrown out of their seats and carriages by the strong impact.
The exact causes of the disaster are still being investigated, but human error is considered among the main versions. Moreover, this collision occurred just nine months after another major railway accident involving the same carriers and on the same line, which killed 46 people.
