Mother and daughter from Mironcavy family released after half a year in pre-trial detention
Lukerya and Veronika Mironcava, accused under an "extremist" article, have been released from custody. The court sentenced the women to restricted freedom at home.
As Nasha Niva learned, the trial of the mother and daughter concluded with the assignment of restricted freedom at home — a limitation of freedom at their place of residence. Both women were released immediately after the verdict was announced.
They had been in pre-trial detention center No. 1 since December 2025, when they were detained on charges of attempting to facilitate extremist activities.
This is not the first criminal sentence in the Mironcavy family. In August 2020, sisters Viktoryia and Nastassia stood up for people during harsh detentions near the capital's Palace of Sports. For this, they later received real sentences: Viktoryia was sentenced to two and a half years of imprisonment, and Nastassia — to two years in a penal colony. Both girls fully served their sentences and were released in 2022.
Another sister, Aliaksandra, to escape possible arrest, managed to leave Belarus and went abroad. Pensioner Lukerya Mironcava and her daughter Veronika, twin sister of the previously convicted Viktoryia, remained in Minsk all this time until security forces came for them in late 2025.
