Leading White House employees earn very well. Nevertheless, US President Donald Trump, apparently, gave his assistant Natalie Harp and three other employees $45,000 each, Bild writes.
This refers to "cash gifts for vacation." The amount of the payment to the assistant is particularly noticeable because White House employees in such a position earn about $150,000 a year. Thus, these "pocket money" amount to almost a third of her annual salary.
In addition, Natalie Harp (a former Fox News anchor) is said to have a very close working relationship with Donald Trump.
Since Trump likes to read on paper, she constantly prints articles, emails, or social media comments for him on a portable printer — be it on board Air Force One or on the golf course.
She was dubbed the "human printer" in the White House.
Lawyer Richard Painter, who oversaw ethical compliance in the White House under George W. Bush Jr., told The Washington Post that these gifts likely violate the law.
The White House press service reacted on X: "The gifts in question here are in no way related to these individuals' official duties in government and are therefore entirely permissible under relevant legal and ethical standards."
An anonymous White House employee also reported that Trump has a habit of giving Christmas gifts to people around him.
The fact that Natalie Harp was involved in the gift story is not surprising.
For several weeks now, America has been discussing the woman who found herself in Trump's inner circle. She is considered one of the US President's most devoted companions.
The New York Times wrote that Natalie Harp controls access to the president in the White House and works day and night. Additionally, it is alleged that she left Trump enthusiastic notes.
"You are all that matters to me," she reportedly once wrote.
Trump, in turn, considers Harp the only one in the White House who values him as much as his own wife and family.
