Andrei Salaŭjanau, a historian, leading researcher at the Academy of Public Administration under the President, and former long-time academic secretary of the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, has suddenly passed away. He was only 45 years old.
Andrei Salaŭjanau was born on November 28, 1980, in Vitebsk. In 2003, he graduated from the Faculty of History of Vitebsk State University named after P. M. Masherov. From 2003 to 2006, he studied in full-time postgraduate studies at BSU specializing in "national history".
After completing postgraduate studies in 2007, he began working at the Institute of History of the NASB — initially as a junior research fellow, and then as a research fellow. From 2012 to 2022, he served as the academic secretary of this institution. From 2011 to 2015, he headed the Council of Young Scientists of the institute.
From 2007 to 2012, he also worked part-time as a lecturer at the Department of Philosophy and Political Science at Belarusian State Medical University.
In 2022, he moved to work at the Academy of Public Administration under the President, whose rector at that time was Vyachaslau Danilovich, the former director of the Institute of History of the NASB. There, he held the position first as a senior, and later as a leading researcher at the Research Institute of Theory and Practice of Public Administration.
His scientific activity was related to the history of the BSSR in the 1920s. He also researched issues of public education and social policy of the Republic of Belarus from 1991 to 2010.
In 2008, he defended his dissertation "Social Protection of the Younger Generation in the BSSR (1921-1930)". Based on it, in 2013, he published the book "Social Protection of Minors in the BSSR (1921-1930)". He was the author of over 100 scientific works.
