Minsk is switching to LED lights

By 2030, the "Mingorsvet" enterprise plans to completely convert Minsk's street lighting network to modern energy-efficient LED luminaires, reports the "Minsk-News" agency.

The enterprise has more than 200,000 luminaires on its balance sheet, about 120,000 of which are used for street lighting. Currently, approximately 45% of street luminaires already operate on LEDs.

The city lighting system is fully automated. Its operation is monitored by photocells — light sensors that constantly control the light level, said Yauhen Stasyalovich, chief engineer of "Mingorsvet".

In 2026, it is planned to replace 11.8 thousand gas-discharge street luminaires with modern LED ones. The transition of Minsk's entire street network to more energy-efficient lighting is planned to be completed by 2030.
