Old buildings of Minsk Watch Plant await large-scale reconstruction

The industrial territory of the Minsk Watch Plant on Independence Avenue continues to change its appearance. According to the project published by the administration of the Pervomaisky district of Minsk, part of the former production buildings will be transformed into a modern business and medical complex, writes Domovita.by.

The plant's territory has already ceased to be a closed industrial zone. The enterprise's museum and the "Najlepshaya Vulitsa" food court operate here. Now, the reconstruction of two more facilities is planned.

The most significant changes will affect production building No. 10. The current three-story building will be almost completely dismantled, retaining only part of the basement. A new seven-story complex will be built in its place.

The building will be designed in a modern architectural style. The project envisages a monolithic frame, walls made of cellular concrete, and a ventilated facade in dark colors with large panoramic windows. The height of the new building will be about 34 meters.

The first floor will house retail premises of about 290 square meters and a medical unit. Offices and administrative premises will be located from the second to the seventh floors.

The project also provides for the creation of exhibition infrastructure. On the third and sixth floors, with increased ceiling heights, exhibition halls of approximately 170 square meters each will appear, as well as a conference hall.

The basement premises will be used for technical needs – housing ventilation equipment and an electrical switchboard. The total area of the new building will be about 5.2 thousand square meters.

Changes will also affect the former chemical materials warehouse. It will be re-equipped into a medical center with dental laboratories. After reconstruction, the building will house two dental technician offices, a plaster room, and a staff room. A small coffee point is planned to open near the entrance.

The project envisages the landscaping of the entire adjacent territory. For employees and visitors, 78 parking spaces will be created: 50 directly near the new buildings and another 28 on the factory premises.

The preservation of existing green spaces and the creation of new lawns are envisioned. All new facilities will be adapted for people with disabilities: the project includes barrier-free entrances and elevators.

Minsk residents can review the project materials and submit their comments or suggestions until August 10 as part of a public discussion. The project exhibition is also presented in the building of the Pervomaisky district administration.
