In Latvia, one underground tunnel for illegal migrants found on the border with Belarus
28 migrants detained.

On Thursday, August 20, in Krāslava, border guards detained 28 people who illegally crossed the state border through an underground tunnel dug from the Belarusian side, Delfi.lv reports, citing the State Border Guard.
Clarifying the circumstances of the illegal state border crossing and conducting a detailed inspection of the surrounding territory, border guards discovered an underground passage disguised with moss approximately 20 meters from the border.

All 28 people were detained while attempting to illegally cross the state border in accordance with Article 4 of the Law on the State Border Guard and returned to Belarus.
This is already the second instance of a tunnel being used for illegal state border crossing towards Latvia.
It was previously reported that on Monday, August 10, in Skrudaliena parish of Augšdaugava region, border guards discovered 15 people who had illegally crossed the state border through an underground tunnel dug from the Belarusian side.
