A six-year-old boy in Brest was sold an alcoholic beverage in a store, which he mistook for kvass. His mother found out about this only after the child had already drunk about two glasses, reports the publication «BrestCity».
The boy went to the store for kvass, but instead bought the drink «Yasen Kvasen» produced by «Lidskoye Pivo». Its strength is 4.6%, which is indicated on the label. However, for a small child, such information, of course, means nothing.
After some time, the boy's mother herself tasted the drink her son was drinking and realized it was alcohol. After that, she filed a complaint with the store. An inspection was carried out by employees of the Department of Trade and Services of the Brest City Executive Committee. They confirmed the fact of selling alcohol to a minor. The seller is planned to be brought to administrative responsibility.
However, users also drew attention to another side of this story. According to them, the appearance and name «Yasen Kvasen» are very similar to ordinary non-alcoholic kvass, so the drink can be accidentally mistaken even by adults.
Some recounted that they themselves had taken it for kvass and only after tasting realized it was alcohol. People believe that the information about the presence of alcohol on the packaging is not made sufficiently noticeable.
One user even suggested to the manufacturer to change the design and name of the drink so that it would be impossible to confuse it with regular kvass.
