Oil refinery on fire in Ryazan after drone attack

The attack occurred on the day when Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the resumption of strikes on Russian oil refineries after a three-day pause.

On the night of October 15 and in the morning, the Ryazan region was attacked by drones. Governor Pavel Malkov confirmed a fire on the territory of an oil refinery.

"A fire occurred on the territory of an oil refinery. A warehouse and vehicles on the territory of another enterprise in Ryazan were damaged," he wrote on his Telegram channel.

Earlier, local public channels reported the fire at the refinery. Published photos, taken from a distance, showed flames. The extent of the damage is unknown.

Classes in schools and kindergartens in the attack area were canceled.

The attack occurred on the day when Zelenskyy announced the resumption of strikes on Russian oil refineries after a three-day pause.

According to preliminary data from local authorities, there are no casualties.

The Ryazan refinery is one of the largest plants within Rosneft's structure.

According to him, Kyiv refrained from striking energy infrastructure for three days, but Moscow continued to attack Ukrainian energy facilities. Over 100 civilians died within a week.

"The ban is lifted. We've had enough," he stated.

At the same time, US intelligence officials threatened to "immediately" stop data sharing with Ukraine if new strikes on Russian oil refineries occurred.
