Latvian Prime Minister proposed Europeans give up one glass of beer a year for Ukraine
"This one beer is just an expense, but for Ukraine, it's the price of life," said Andris Kulbergs.

Latvian Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs, ahead of a meeting of European leaders in Brussels on Thursday, October 15, proposed that Europeans give up one glass of beer a year to support Ukraine, writes Delfi.lv.
"Europeans need to drink one less beer a year. We can afford that. Ukraine needs this money now. This one beer is just an expense, but for Ukraine, it's the price of life. If we drink less, lives are saved there. It's that simple," Kulbergs told foreign journalists.
The Economist's Brussels correspondent called Kulbergs' calculations strange.
He noted that if 450 million EU residents paid three euros for a beer, the total amount would be 1.35 billion euros — approximately 2% of the amount Ukraine needs.
"Perhaps he meant one beer a week?" the Economist journalist suggested.
