A resident of Ivatsevichy systematically beat her 76-year-old mother for over half a year. The Ivatsevichy District Prosecutor's Office initiated a criminal case against her, the General Prosecutor's Office reported .

According to the department, the 55-year-old woman abuses alcohol. From March to September 2026, she repeatedly attacked her elderly mother while intoxicated.
The daughter dragged her mother by the hair, hit her in the face with a mobile phone, and inflicted other blows. Once, she hit her mother's head against a wall.
Previously, the woman had already been brought to administrative responsibility for violence against a family member, but this did not stop her: she continued to quarrel and beat her mother.
The victim was afraid to contact the police because she lived with her daughter and feared retaliation from her.
The General Prosecutor's Office explained that according to Belarusian legislation, the prosecutor has the right to initiate a criminal case without a statement from the victim if the crime is committed against a person who is dependent on the accused or for other reasons cannot independently protect their rights and legitimate interests.
The criminal case is being handled by the Ivatsevichy District Department of the Investigative Committee.
