Sibiga: On Putin's birthday, Russian generals presented him with his favorite gift

On October 7, the day Vladimir Putin turned 74, Russia massively attacked Ukraine with missiles and drones. As a result, at least six people died. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sibiga reacted to the Russian attack on the birthday of the head of the Russian Federation.

“On Putin's birthday, Russian generals presented him with his favorite gift — war crimes,” stated Sibiga.

According to the head of the Ukrainian MFA, during the attack Russia used hundreds of missiles and drones. Strikes targeted residential buildings and critical infrastructure in Kyiv, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, Kremenchuk, and Pryluky.

At least two people died in Kyiv, and four more in other regions of the country.

Sibiga stated that Russian generals are not telling Putin the main thing: that he is not winning the war and "will never win."

“He has lost 1.6 million servicemen killed and wounded, without achieving any of the strategic goals of his invasion. His slow advance has stalled, and Ukraine has begun to liberate more territories than he manages to seize. His economy is in decline, and his influence in the world is weakening. And all this is because he refuses to stop this war,” the minister said.

After the attack, Sibiga called on Ukraine's partners to give Putin "real gifts" that would force him to choose diplomacy instead of war. Among them, he named increased sanctions against the Russian military-industrial complex, the supply of necessary air defense systems to Ukraine, and energy assistance ahead of winter.

“But his main gift will be a place in custody in The Hague. We are preparing a Special Tribunal for the crime of aggression against Ukraine for practical launch already next year. Putin and his accomplices must know: accountability is inevitable,” Sibiga stated.
