On December 20, the Head of the Administration, Dmitry Krutoy, introduced the new head to the staff of the Supreme Court — Andrei Shved. Shved stated that in his work he "plans to continue to maintain a course towards justice."
The decision to appoint Shved was unanimously approved at the VII All-Belarusian People's Assembly. However, Shved thanked only Lukashenka for the trust placed in him.

52-year-old Andrei Shved was the most active and proactive of Lukashenka's security officials; he is one of the main architects of repression in the country. Under his leadership, the "commission for return" operates — moreover, he repeatedly obstructed those who even hinted at the need to reduce repression. Under him, the prosecutor's office became the main punitive body. And Shved himself captivated Lukashenka with the idea of the "genocide of the Belarusian people."
