Former «Grodno Azot» worker beaten in penal colony for snoring. KGB tried to recruit him during detention
«They beat me, didn't let me sleep. When I was transferred to another detachment, they poured water on me from a bottle.»

Former political prisoner Maksim Senik from Grodno Azot told at a press conference how the KGB of Grodno tried to recruit him during his detention. They offered him to go abroad and leak information about activists. The man refused.
The next day, Maksim said that he was ready to accept the offer — he was not going to cooperate with the KGB, he just wanted to go to Poland and disappear there. The special services said that they did not believe him.
Senik said that he was beaten in colony No. 2 in Babruisk for snoring loudly.
«I was beaten, not allowed to sleep. There were such conditions — either I don't sleep, or nobody sleeps. They decided that I would not sleep. I was transferred to another unit. But there they did not beat me, but poured water from a bottle. They took off the blanket, hid it so that I could not sleep. Then I started asking for SHIZO, then for PKT. It wasn't sweet there either.»
In prison, the man began to have health problems, he caught a cold in his bladder in the cold.
«Disgusting conditions,» says Senik about the conditions behind bars.
Senik also said that prisoners in the colony made boxes for shells and bullets.
«They work under cover, as if the Belarusian side is ordering, and not Russia. And in very large batches. It is clear that Belarus does not need that much,» he shared.
Belpol reported that the production of wooden boxes for transporting finished ammunition was organized in correctional colonies.
Maksim Senik was detained on January 10, 2022. He was a member of the independent trade union Grodno Azot. The man was detained for participating in protests in 2020 and for reposts on social networks. He was charged under several articles of the Criminal Code — «insulting Alexander Lukashenko» (part 1 of article 368), «promoting extremist activities» (part 1 of article 361‑4 and part 1 of article 361-2). Senik was given 4 years in prison. The man was in colony No. 2 in Babruisk. He was released on December 13 as part of a group with other political prisoners.
