Collector acquired a banknote with two different serial numbers and doubted its authenticity
A local resident contacted the Lida Interdistrict Department of the State Forensic Examination Committee with an application for a technical examination of document details. The man explained that he is a collector.
The subject of the study was fragments of a National Bank banknote with a denomination of 100,000 Belarusian rubles, issued in 2000.
Initial doubts about the authenticity and integrity of the banknote arose due to the presence of two different serial numbers on each of the fragments.
Forensic experts established that the fragments submitted for examination previously constituted a single whole — a National Bank banknote with a denomination of 100,000 rubles, issued in 2000, manufactured by an enterprise engaged in the production of this type of product, the original content of which was technically altered by dividing it into parts (fragments) through tearing.
The existing differences in the details — the presence of different serial numbers on a single banknote — are due to deviations from the technological process committed during its production. Flaws in banknote production are quite rare.
It is noteworthy that such "rare banknotes" are of particular interest to collectors.
