Belarusian detained in Salininkai with cigarettes worth 217,000 euros
The man attempted to smuggle nearly 42,000 packs into Lithuania.

On December 24, a Belarusian citizen was detained at a road checkpoint in Salininkai. Upon crossing the border, he stated that he was not carrying anything prohibited and was on his way to work.
However, when customs officers inspected the car using an X-ray system, contraband was found in the vehicle's ceiling, floor, and walls, writes LRT.
In total, 41,900 packs of "NZ Gold" cigarettes manufactured in Belarus were found in the minibus, with a value exceeding 217,000 euros.
The car and the illegal tobacco products were seized, and a pre-trial investigation into the fact of smuggling has been launched. The driver was assigned a preventive measure — confiscation of documents and a travel ban.
