The irony is that the reason for blocking the messenger was cited as foreign special services gaining access to correspondence.
Authorities will not slow down Telegram "in the zone of the special military operation," said Maksut Shadaev, head of the Ministry of Digital Development. This is likely due to Telegram becoming the main messenger for Russian military personnel in the war against Ukraine.
"But we hope that in some time our military personnel will be able to reconfigure and switch to Russian services," added Shadaev.
The irony of the situation is that Shadaev himself cited foreign special services gaining access to correspondence as the reason for restricting the messenger in the Russian Federation.
"We have direct confirmations from law enforcement agencies that, unfortunately, while at the beginning of the SVO Telegram was considered a sufficiently anonymous service and our military used it, now there are many facts, confirmed by our agencies, that foreign special services have access to correspondence in Telegram. If previously this was still episodic in nature, now it is already systematic," said Shadaev.
