Minsk announces plans to create a public garden on former Catholic cemetery. But construction has been underway there for a long time
The plan, proposed for discussion, is outdated, but it shows how the block where the church is located was supposed to look. Everything suddenly changed due to the construction of a secret object, writes Katolik.life.

The administration of the Savetski district of Minsk announced a public discussion on introducing changes to the urban planning project for the detailed planning of the reconstruction of the "Zalataya Horka" residential block. It starts on February 26.
As Katolik.life noted, the announcement includes an Explanatory Note to the detailed plan, dated as far back as 2023. The document shows, in particular, what block "B" should look like, within the boundaries of Independence Avenue, Kazlova Street, Mulyavin Boulevard, and Zalataya Horka Street, where St. Roch's Church is located.
The plan envisions a public garden with an area of 1.65 ha in the zone of the southwestern outskirts of block "B" on the territory of the former Zalataya Horka cemetery.
But it seems that the document is outdated. Presumably, the public garden should be located on the wasteland where construction of a building for the KGB Academy suddenly began in 2025.
In describing the plan, it was noted that the public garden should be located on the site of the demolished antenna-jammer behind the church and on adjacent plots. Indeed, no other place of such an area is visible in block "B".
However, it was overlooked that the entire wasteland in 2025 was allocated for the construction of a large object, which is listed in the passport as a "multifunctional building," but in reality is the new building of the KGB academy.

The plan specifies "the preservation of existing and construction of additional new areas of green spaces for general use, including a public garden of 1.65 ha in the zone of the southwestern outskirts of block "B" on the territory of the former Catholic cemetery, with the use of this plot as green spaces for general use and the arrangement of temporary non-stationary exhibition elements in the open air."
That the plan has lost its relevance is clearly visible on Google Maps — satellite images have captured the construction site. Below are screenshots of the current map compared to saved panoramic photos.

Before part of the plot allocated for construction was taken from the parish, there was a children's playground, an exhibition of retro cars, a public garden, paths, and a square where the city-wide Way of the Cross was held.
Now, in the updated cadastral map, only a plot of 0.35 ha is assigned to the church.
It was previously reported that at the beginning of construction on the site of the former cemetery, numerous human remains were unearthed. They promised to hand them over to the parish for reburial, but this has not yet been done, as far as the faithful know. They hope that it will happen eventually.
The plan also mentions the prospect of demolishing low-rise buildings and garages located on the territory of the former Catholic cemetery. But those buildings and garages that were near the church and the jammer have already been demolished along with it for the construction of that very object.
