In January, a resident of Bobruisk, along with friends, participated in a driven hunt in Asipovichy district. They had a permit to shoot a wild boar. However, during the hunt, the 40-year-old man, carried away by excitement, shot a lynx that unexpectedly appeared before him, the Investigative Committee reports .

The lynx is an especially protected species and is listed in the Red Book, therefore, its shooting is allowed only with a special permit.
The hunter did not report his mistake to anyone and left the carcass at the scene. Later, however, employees of the Inspectorate for the Protection of Animals and Plants found the killed lynx in the snow, after which investigators were called to the scene.
Now, a criminal case has been initiated against the man for illegal hunting that caused damage on a particularly large scale. In addition, he will have to compensate for the damage caused to nature — 13.5 thousand rubles.
