Following the success of MacBook Neo, Apple plans to extend the mobile platform experience to its desktop computers.
According to MyDrivers, next year we expect the release of Mac Neo — an ultra-budget alternative to Mac mini. The device will be built on the A19 Pro processor from the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro and will have 12 GB of RAM. Such performance will be sufficient for stable operation of Apple Intelligence and everyday tasks, and the chip's energy efficiency will allow the system to be completely silent.
To maximize cost reduction, Apple will abandon the familiar aluminum casing in favor of colored plastic. Externally, the Mac Neo will more closely resemble an Apple TV set-top box than a classic Mac mini, and will come in a wide palette of colors. Two USB-C ports with 10 Gbps speed are expected on the body.
The potential price of the new product will be just $299. This is exactly half the cost of the base Mac mini with the M4 chip ($599). Thus, Apple continues the "double discount" strategy, which we have already seen with the MacBook Neo.
