Bus driver tried to smuggle drugs into Belarus disguised as canned goods
At the Belarusian-Polish border, at the "Brest" checkpoint, an attempt to smuggle a large batch of drugs was stopped. According to information from customs authorities, the prohibited substance was found among the belongings of a passenger bus driver.
Suspicion was raised by several tin cans with different labels — supposedly with poppy seeds and stew.
During the check with the help of an X-ray, it was found that there were foreign objects inside. When the cans were opened, polyethylene bags with white powder were found in them.
An examination showed that it was a particularly dangerous psychotropic substance — mephedrone. The total mass of the seized substance amounted to more than 2.3 kilograms.
Later, the person to whom this shipment was intended was also identified. A criminal case has been initiated based on the facts. The suspects face up to 10 years in prison.
