It is reported that the police received an anonymous message requesting to check information in one of the district's villages. A patrol was dispatched to the scene. When the officers arrived, a 34-year-old local resident, showing signs of alcoholic intoxication and holding a knife, began to approach them.
The man, it is alleged, did not react to demands to stop and drop the knife, so one of the officers fired a targeted shot at the assailant's leg.
The injured man was given first aid and handed over to an ambulance crew.
Following the incident, a criminal case was initiated for violence or the threat of its use against an officer of the internal affairs bodies. The man faces up to seven years in prison.
