Electric car or conventional car? Officials calculated which is cheaper
The Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade of Belarus compared how much it costs to drive 100 kilometers in an electric car versus a conventional gasoline car. It turned out that even after the increase in electricity tariffs, an electric car is still cheaper.

If you charge an electric car at a slow AC charging station, 100 km of travel will cost approximately 8.7 rubles (with an average consumption of 15.8 kWh per 100 km). With fast DC charging, costs increase to approximately 11.5 rubles.
It's even cheaper if you charge the car at home. During the daytime, it's about 4.7 rubles per 100 km, and at the night tariff — about 2.8 rubles.
For comparison: a car running on AI-95 gasoline with a consumption of about 7.4 liters per 100 km, at a price of 2.6 rubles per liter, requires approximately 19.2 rubles for the same distance.
According to data for 2025, there were about 54,000 electric vehicles in Belarus. By 2030, their number is planned to increase to approximately 300,000. Currently, there are about 2,100 charging stations operating in the country.
In Belarus, electricity tariffs for legal entities and entrepreneurs increased on February 1. Due to this, as of March 10, charging at Malanka network stations also became more expensive: slow charging — up to 0.55 rubles per kWh, fast charging — up to 0.73 rubles.
