Cultural Treasures Not Allowed to Be Imported from Poland to Belarus
Four women were crossing the border at the Brest checkpoint and chose the "green corridor," thereby confirming that they were not carrying items that needed to be declared. However, during the inspection, it was discovered that art objects were hidden in the car and their personal belongings, according to the State Customs Committee.

Among the discovered items were 24 paintings, statuettes, two mantel clocks, a bust, and a wall bas-relief. Experts determined that all these items were made more than 50 years ago, and therefore are considered cultural valuables. Their total value exceeds 32 thousand rubles.

Administrative cases have been initiated against the women. They may face a fine, as well as the confiscation of the discovered items.

Customs authorities noted that this is not an isolated incident: in the last month alone, more than a dozen similar attempts to illegally move cultural valuables across the border were discovered in the Brest region.
