Talks between the US and Iran may take place in the capital of Pakistan — Islamabad — in the near future. This was announced by Pakistan's Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar following consultations with the foreign ministers of Egypt, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia.
«Pakistan is pleased that both Iran and the US have expressed confidence in our country regarding facilitating talks. Pakistan will be honored to host and facilitate meaningful negotiations between the two sides in the coming days,» he said.
Dar also announced that he had a phone conversation with the Foreign Minister of China: «China fully supports Pakistan's initiative to hold US-Iranian talks.» A similar conversation took place with the Secretary-General of the United Nations, who also expressed full support for Pakistan's peace initiative.
