The Investigative Committee claims that a 68-year-old pensioner from Valozhyn district was recruited by Ukrainian military intelligence.
According to the Investigative Committee, in July 2022, the man was recruited by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, and allegedly began collecting information about local police officers: personal data, phone numbers. The Investigative Committee claims the goal was to recruit law enforcement officers in the interests of foreign special services.
In addition to espionage, the pensioner is accused of inciting national hatred through anti-Russian comments on the Internet.
The pensioner is accused under Part 1 of Art. 356 (treason) and Part 1 of Art. 130 (inciting racial, national, religious or other social hatred or enmity) of the Criminal Code. He is in custody.
