Belstat has named the top 5 sectors where Belarusians are employed. This information is contained in a statistical review published before May 1, reports BelTA. According to the review, the absolute majority of Belarusians work in the private sector.

The average age of employed women in 2025 was 42.5 years, and among men — 42.4 years.
The majority of the population is employed in private ownership — 57.1%, in state ownership — 38%.
The top 5 types of economic activity in which the population of Belarus was employed based on 2025 results included industry (23.2%), wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (13.4%), education (11%), agriculture, forestry and fishing (9.9%), healthcare and social services (8.3%).
In the service sector last year, 62.7% of employees were women and 37.2% were men. In the production sector, men predominated — 67.9% compared to 32.1% women.
In the Belarusian economy in 2025, 50.4% of employees were women and 49.6% were men. The majority of them were urban residents. 85.1% of the population of working age was employed in the economy, and the share of youth (15-31 years old) in the total number of employed was almost 20% (including in managerial positions — 11%).
The total number of employed in the Belarusian economy in March 2026 was 4180.9 thousand.
