As stated in the government's message, the resolution strengthens the technical requirements for alcoholic products subject to mandatory conformity assessment in the form of certification. Restrictions are introduced on the content of quinine and hydrocyanic acid in alcoholic products, and on the content of methyl alcohol — for tequila and mezcal.
The use of ingredients, replacement of grape varieties or their blending is prohibited if not stipulated by the documents according to which the alcoholic product was manufactured. The addition of ethyl alcohol from non-food raw materials to alcoholic products, and synthetic dyes to cognacs, cognac drinks, brandies, and divins is prohibited.
Additional technical requirements for whiskey and wines are defined by supplementing the list of national and interstate standards, compliance with the requirements of which is checked during mandatory certification.
The resolution comes into force three months after its official publication.
