The Kremlin controls Russian organized crime and is increasingly turning to its services for carrying out sabotage and murders, the German Federal Ministry of the Interior reported.

This assessment is contained in the ministry's response to a parliamentary inquiry from the German Green Party, a copy of which was obtained by Spiegel magazine, "Agentstvo" writes.
According to the German ministry, even groups from other former USSR countries, which are referred to in Germany as Russian-Eurasian organized crime, will likely not be able to escape the Kremlin's influence. Such structures are reportedly forced to cooperate with Russian authorities in exchange for tolerance of their activities by Russian state bodies.
According to the German government's assessment, there are signs of links with the Kremlin among groups of former USSR natives active in Germany.
The involvement of criminal elements allows Moscow to deny its involvement in illegal activities.
The ministry's response notes that German authorities have recorded a large number of incidents that could have been sabotage operations by Moscow. However, in most cases, Russia's involvement could not be proven.
Also, according to the German government's assessment, Russia is increasingly using people for sabotage, recruited online without professional training.
This is not the first recent case where German law enforcement agencies have spoken about cooperation between Russian special services and organized crime. In April, a leading investigator from the State Criminal Police Office of Germany explained in court in Frankfurt am Main that the early release of one of Russia's well-known "thieves in law" Shakro Molodoy (Zakhary Kalashov) was due to his agreement with the FSB, MVD, and "Wagner".
