The animal was filmed near the road: the deer was running in circles, jumping, losing balance, and falling several times. The police humorously noted that "not all road users are sober."
Police in France are warning drivers in rural areas to be on the lookout for "drunk" deer exhibiting erratic behavior caused by the consumption of fermented fruits — or as police called it, a “forest aperitif.” https://t.co/uGT1Vy45cD pic.twitter.com/JVf2HS8QRR
According to law enforcement, the deer might have become intoxicated from fermented fruits, cones, or rotten plants. During fermentation, such food produces alcohol, which can affect the bodies of wild animals.
The French gendarmerie explained that in such a state, animals can suddenly run onto the road, move erratically, or unexpectedly stop directly on the carriageway.
Drivers were urged to be especially careful during dark hours and on secondary roads, where encounters with wild animals occur more frequently.
Specialists also note that fermented fruits can affect not only deer but also birds, insects, and other representatives of wild nature.
