Kyrgyzstan's Prime Minister Ordered Officials to Go Without Jackets to Save Electricity
The Head of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Adylbek Kasymaliev, on May 13 during a working meeting, instructed civil servants to ditch jackets and come to work in shirts to save electricity, writes "Current Time".

"We all must take off our suits and come in shirts," said the Kyrgyz Prime Minister.
The head of government referred to Japan's experience, where in 2005, authorities launched the Cool Biz campaign, which aimed to reduce electricity consumption by limiting the use of air conditioners and introducing a liberal dress code.
"Japan had such an experience. In summer, when a lot of electricity is consumed, they switched to this form. They started coming to work in shirts without ties, as a result of which the state saved billions of yen," stated Adylbek Kasymaliev.
Over the past five years, electricity consumption in Kyrgyzstan has increased by more than 25% — from 15.4 billion kilowatt-hours in 2020 to 19.3 billion kilowatt-hours by the end of 2025. The growth in demand is outpacing the rate of introducing new generation capacities, which increases the burden on the country's energy system. The President's Special Representative for Special Assignments, Bakyt Tarabaev, said that if the current growth rates continue, electricity consumption in Kyrgyzstan could reach 25 billion kilowatt-hours by 2030.
