Man Dies in Stolin District After Accidentally Drinking Pesticide
He thought it was birch sap.
A 58-year-old resident of Minsk was helping a farmer with household chores. Throughout the day, the worker was cleaning the territory.
In the evening, the farmer noticed that the Minsk resident was sitting with his head down. Approaching him, the man explained that he had drunk a clear liquid from a bottle, thinking it was birch sap.
A moment later, the worker lost consciousness. The farmer immediately took the man to the hospital, but doctors pronounced him dead.
A forensic medical examination was commissioned.
According to the expert's conclusion, the cause of death was acute poisoning by isodecanol — a substance widely used in agriculture as an auxiliary component in plant protection products and fertilizers.
