The cause of the senator's death was a heart attack, NBC News later reported. He died at his home in Washington.

Lindsey Graham was born in 1955 in the small town of Central, South Carolina. He gained national recognition in 1998 during the impeachment proceedings against Bill Clinton. He served eight years in the U.S. House of Representatives, and since 2002, he was a senator from South Carolina.

Graham was known for his uncompromising stance on Russia, which he considered a threat since the 2008 war with Georgia. After the annexation of Crimea in 2014, he demanded sanctions against Russia. With the start of the full-scale war in Ukraine, he stated that Putin should be eliminated by any means – for this, Russia added him to its registry of extremists. He promoted a law for 500% tariffs on countries that buy Russian energy resources.

Graham actively supported Ukraine, linking this also to the country's rare-earth resources.

Recently, the senator visited the production facility for Ukrainian SkyFall drones, where he was shown Vampire bombers, Shrike FPV drones, and P1-SUN 'Shahed' interceptors. Graham called the enterprise ultra-modern and stated that it would be a big mistake for the US not to cooperate with Ukraine in the field of drones.
