Boy falls from window and dies in five-star hotel. Father fined three thousand euros
Joshua Foster thought the window was closed and placed his one-and-a-half-year-old son on the windowsill.

The father, whose two-year-old son fell from a fourth-floor window of a hotel in Cyprus, has been fined 3000 euros. The boy died, writes BBC — Ukraine.
As reported by the Paphos District Court, Joshua Foster thought the window was closed and placed his son on the windowsill. He wanted to show him the view of the water park but lost control of him.
It was the first day of their family holiday — July 12. The child fell from a height of almost 12 meters at the five-star King Evelthon Beach Hotel and Resort in Chlorakas.
37-year-old Foster from the UK pleaded guilty to causing his son's death through negligence.
Afterwards, he told reporters: "Thank you for your support. I am looking forward to returning home and being with my wife and daughter."
A few hours before the tragedy, Joshua Foster arrived in Cyprus with his wife, two children, father-in-law, and mother-in-law. They swam, spent time actively, and in the evening were preparing to go to dinner.
Life that "changed forever"
According to lawyer Alexandros Alexandrou, around 6:00 PM, Foster was walking to the elevator with his father-in-law and son, playing with the child.
The court was told that on the way, the boy noticed a water park outside the building.
Foster pressed the elevator button, placed the child on the windowsill, and the unimaginable happened before he could react.
At the preliminary hearing, which took place on October 6, Alexandrou stated that from that moment, Foster's life changed forever.
The boy was taken to Paphos Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Foster told police that when he placed his son on the windowsill, he fell "before he could grab him."
Although alcohol was found in Foster's system, this was not a key element of the prosecution. His lawyer emphasized that no one testified that the man was drunk.
The lawyer also stated that Foster had spent eight days in custody. From the detention center, he was forced to call his daughter and explain what had happened.
The court also reported that the window was 2.85 meters wide and 1.2 meters high.
In a statement near the court, Alexandros Alexandrou called his client an "incredible father."
"He is an exemplary family man with a wonderful family. She supports him, cares for him, and always stands by his side."
The lawyer added that after the verdict was announced, Foster took it very hard, and his family needed time to grieve their loss.
"All this time, they were focused on the defense," said Alexandrou.
