Dzianis Ivashyn was returned to the Mahilioŭ colony on June 18 — prior to this, he had served 3 years in prison No. 8 in Zhodzina.
His letter to his mother is dated exactly on that day, then his wife received a letter dated June 21. Since then, they have not received a single letter from Dzianis, reported BAJ (Belarusian Association of Journalists) Volha Ivashyna:
"Immediately upon arrival at the colony, my husband should have been placed in quarantine. But letters reached us from there. Now, with no letters for 22 days, it looks like he has been thrown into a punitive isolation cell (SHIZA). We have already 'been through this' in prison, when Dzianis was held in a punitive isolation cell. Back then, there were also no letters for several weeks."
Volha noted that she expects nothing good from his detention in PC-15. Dzianis Ivashyn was initially sent there to serve his sentence, and there he was beaten, mocked for his Belarusian language, forbidden from making phone calls, receiving food parcels, meeting with his parents, and several times punished with a punitive isolation cell. And this was all within just a few months he had to spend in PC-15.
Dzianis Ivashyn was detained on March 12, 2021, in Hrodna and sentenced to 13 years and 1 month of imprisonment for alleged 'treason against the state' (Art. 356 of the Criminal Code) and 'illegal collection and dissemination of information about private life' (Art. 179 of the Criminal Code). In total, Dzianis Ivashyn has been imprisoned for more than 5 years.
