Realtor in Gomel saved pensioner from selling apartment to fraudsters
But she managed to "declare" her savings — the courier took about 18 thousand dollars to Moscow, the Investigative Committee reports .
The woman received a Viber call from an alleged employee of an electric telecommunications company who reported that fraudsters were using her passport data to commit financial fraud. Then a pseudo-employee of the State Control Committee contacted the resident and threatened criminal liability for assisting criminals, but then offered mutually beneficial cooperation.
Already the next day, the Gomel resident completed the curator's first task — she handed over 13,000 rubles and 13,755 dollars to a courier for declaration and verification.
Then the fake security officer convinced her to arrange a "temporary" sale of the apartment, which, according to the legend, had been taken over by fraudsters. The man instructed the victim to await the arrival of a real estate agent with whom he had arranged the service.
Fortunately for the woman, the realtor was an acquaintance of hers. The consultant thoroughly questioned the owner about the reasons for selling the property, after which he recommended contacting the police.
During investigative actions and operational-search measures, the courier was identified — a 48-year-old resident of the Gomel district. According to the man, he himself became a victim of phone fraudsters and believed in the proposed cooperation with the State Control Committee regarding the delivery of packages with other people's money from Belarus to Moscow.
