In Dyatlovo District, 13 cups disappeared from the Life-Giving Spring in the urban settlement of Kazloushchyna over several months. A photo trap helped find the thief.
Local residents tidied up the spring themselves: they made convenient steps and left a cup near the water so people could drink. However, since the beginning of the year, the utensils began to disappear regularly. Even a mug specially attached with a chain did not stop the thief.
The chairperson of the rural executive committee contacted the police, after which a hidden photo trap was installed near the spring. It quickly captured the moment of the theft.
The thief was a resident of one of the surrounding villages. Water was cut off in his house due to debts, so the man regularly came to the spring with canisters. At the same time, he took cups home because, according to him, he really liked the beautifully painted items.
The man has already returned all 13 stolen cups to the rural executive committee. However, he will not escape responsibility: for petty theft, he faces a fine of 2 to 6 basic units or administrative arrest.
In addition, the police have strengthened control over the area near the holy spring. The reason for this was instances of alcohol consumption there. Those who violate public order are promised to be held accountable.
