The Greek oil tanker Skiros suffered an attack in the Black Sea after loading Russian oil at the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) terminal near Novorossiysk. Bloomberg reports this, citing sources familiar with the situation.
Skiros is a Suezmax-class tanker capable of carrying about 1 million barrels of oil. According to sources, the vessel was attacked after loading at the CPC terminal.
An Athens-based company, identified as the tanker's manager in the Equasis system, reported that no one was injured in the incident. There was also no oil spill or sea pollution. The vessel owners were informed of the incident.
According to Bloomberg, this is the first attack on a vessel heading to the CPC terminal after an almost three-week break.
Last month, a series of drone attacks led to disruptions in oil shipments via this route. As a result, Kazakh oil fields even had to reduce production.
The CPC route is of great importance to the global oil market: recently, almost 2% of all global oil supplies passed through it.
