In Minsk, long queues have formed in recent days at two swimming pools — "Druzhba" on Karalinskaya Street, 1, and the pool of Secondary School No. 224 on Mikhail Ptashuk Street, 17. Photographs with large numbers of people appeared on social networks, writes the "Minsk-Novosti" agency.
Eyewitnesses counted more than 40 people near the pool of School No. 224 on the morning of August 24. Residents of Loshytsa reported that the building's hall was also overcrowded.
It turned out that the reason was the start of registration for the pool. Residents of Loshytsa can register until August 31, and on the first day, there were a great many eager people.
The administration of the Leninsky district reported that the queue was promptly served by four specialists who were accepting documents. In the future, it is planned to partially transfer application submissions to a remote format to avoid such queues.
Paid classes at the pool will begin on September 1, 2026. Given the great interest of Loshytsa residents, it is planned to open 42 children's and seven adult groups. Classes will be conducted by professional trainers-instructors.
A similar situation arose a few days prior near the "Druzhba" pool in Brylevichi. Due to high demand for season tickets on the day of their sale, a significant queue also formed. Some public channels even reported clashes between people wanting to purchase season tickets.
The administration of the Maskoŭski district confirmed that the demand for the pool's services was high, so a large queue formed on the day of sale. Additional staff were brought in to serve visitors more quickly, but season tickets were sold on a first-come, first-served basis.
At present, there are still free spots available for wellness sessions and in swimming lessons groups.
From September 1, the pool will begin operating swimming lesson groups for children and teenagers, as well as wellness swimming sessions for everyone interested. The facilities announce dates and times for season ticket sales, class schedules, and other necessary information on their websites and information stands.
