Belarusian Miroslav Lazovsky Posthumously Awarded Title of Honorary Citizen of Rivne
On August 13, deputies of the Rivne City Council posthumously awarded the title "Honorary Citizen of Rivne" to 201 defenders of Ukraine. Among them is Belarusian Miroslav Lazovsky. He is now listed under number 655 in the list of honorary citizens of the city, Radio Svaboda reports .
The list of honorary citizens of Rivne states that Miroslav Lazovsky was allegedly a citizen of Ukraine:
"Lazovsky Miroslav Vladimirovich is a citizen of Ukraine, who died (deceased) defending the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Ukraine in the Russian-Ukrainian war, and directly participated in measures to ensure national security and defense, repel and deter armed aggression against Ukraine."
As early as January 2024, the Rivne City Council decided to name one of the new streets on the outskirts of the city after Miroslav Lazovsky.
Miroslav Lazovsky, known by the call sign "Mys (Mouse)", was born in Minsk on July 10, 1973. He graduated from the Belarusian National Technical University. In 1995, he joined the Belarusian Association of Servicemen. In the same year, he became one of the founders of the sports and patriotic organization "White Legion," which operated in Belarus until the early 2000s and was involved in the upbringing and training of youth. He was a popularizer of Belarusian culture, collaborated with a publishing house, and participated in book fairs.
After the start of mass repressions in Belarus in late summer 2021, Miroslav moved to Ukraine. He died on May 16, 2023, defending Bakhmut from Russian invaders.
