70-year-old pensioner sentenced to 15 years for donations to the AFU. After the verdict, she sang "Ridna maty moya"
The occupying Russian court accused her of high treason.
Svitlana Loy, 70, from the occupied Zaporizhzhia region, was sentenced for donations totaling 63,000 Russian rubles (750 dollars) to the AFU. The pensioner was given 15 years in a penal colony — her actions were deemed "high treason."
After the judge announced the verdict, the woman sang the Ukrainian song "Ridna maty moya."
This is not the only case where a harsh sentence was handed down to a pensioner in the occupied territories.
For instance, a pensioner from occupied Berdiansk was recently given 14 years in a penal colony in a high treason case, writes the BBC.
According to Russian security forces, after the start of the war, the woman, born in 1952, "developed a stable negative attitude towards representatives of Russian state authorities."
The investigation claims that in the summer of 2024, the pensioner transferred 1,500 hryvnias (approximately 33 dollars) to Ukrainian military personnel through a mobile application of a Ukrainian bank. According to the Russian investigation, this caused damage to Russia's security.
